Day 270

Today I'm thankful that I could make the choice to put off a few things on my to do list and have a relatively relaxing day. I even watched two episodes of Season 5 of Parenthood. I'm behind but I'm trying to catch up so I can watch part of the new (and final) season live.

Day 269

Today I'm thankful for my Facebook friends. I don't often vent or post negative things on Facebook but I was really frustrated with work today so I posted about it on Facebook, asking for advice. The responses I got were terrific, mostly very reasonable ways to deal with the problem. Thanks, friends!

Day 268

Today I'm thankful for a quiet evening at home with John.

Day 267

Today I'm thankful for a slower day at work (we saw 18 students instead of 20+) and a wonderful yoga class. Only two more weekdays...

Day 265-266*

Yesterday I was thankful for a fun evening with John's parents. We had a delicious supper at Bellwether, a new restaurant for us, and then watched Monday Night Football from the comfort of our living room.

Today I'm thankful for a great 3 mile run with Natallie this evening. The weather was perfect for running and I got to vent about my day. Work has been so crazy busy that a run was just what I needed!

Day 263-264*

Yesterday I was thankful for a fun day with my in-laws. We hadn't seen my husband's parents or sisters since early June so it was good to catch up again. We went to the Oshkosh farmer's market, did a little outlet mall shopping, and watched the Badger game all before the extended family events of the evening.

Today I'm thankful for a safe drive back to Chicago and a fairly relaxing evening.

Day 261-262*

Yesterday I was thankful for an absolutely beautiful day. It was SO nice out when I sat outside for lunch...and still nice for my walk home around 7pm after a Chicago Scholars event.

This morning I'm thankful for a fun interval/fartlek run with Natallie to start my Friday. I'm also thankful for North Harbor Tower's free bagel Fridays. A bagel is a great post-run, pre-work Friday treat!

Day 259-260*

Yesterday I was thankful to build a little catch-up time into my workday. It felt good to leave with everything I needed to have done done!

Today I'm thankful for Universal Sole and their monthly Pizza in the Park Fun Run. I needed an extra run tonight. The pizza and the beer afterwards were pretty great as well!

Day 256-258*

Day 256 - I was very thankful to my husband for accompanying me to the Zac Brown Band concert. He's not a country music fan so definitely wasn't excited when Keith could no longer join us...but he didn't complain a bit. I think he even enjoyed it, especially when they covered a Metallica song!
Our view from the cheap seats!
Day 257 - I was thankful that my Chicago Marathon corral assignment was changed so that Natallie and I are in the same one! When I looked on Saturday, I was in Corral H and she was in Corral F. I emailed them but just got an automatic response back. When Natallie looked last night, we were both in Corral F. Thank goodness!

Day 258 - I'm thankful that I was on my couch by 7pm tonight. I just might get caught up on all my emails!

Day 253-255*

Day 253: I was thankful to actually leave work on time at 5 pm. It has been so busy lately!

Day 254: I was thankful for a productive evening with my Chicago Scholars co-mentor and three of our scholars. It was a really great bonding experience.

Day 255: Today, I'm so thankful it's Friday. It's been a long week!

Day 252

Today I'm thankful for winning the #TwitterTuesday prize from Broadway in Chicago. Seeing that direct message on Twitter after leaving work late made my day!

Monday, September 8, 2014

Day 251

Today I'm thankful to have had a nice, long (Almost 2 hours!) chat with a great friend. Thanks for listening, Aubz!

Day 250*

Yesterday, I was thankful to have Natallie as my running buddy for our 23 mile training run! I really don't think I'd be as motivated to get out and run if I didn't have her to run with.

I was also thankful for good college friends who invited me to Ravinia to see Carrie Underwood last night. I had such a great time!

Day 249

Today I'm thankful for a pretty relaxing Saturday, a Badger win, and a phone call from my bestie!

Thursday, September 4, 2014

Day 247

Today I'm thankful for meeting up with four of my Chicago Scholars after work. It's amazing how much helping others allows me to de-stress from my day. Thanks, girls!

Day 245

Today I'm thankful that I saw my old coworker and friend Marjorie on the street outside of work. It was such a surprise to see her. It's always amazing to me to randomly see people I know, especially people who don't live here. The right place at the right time...

Day 244*

Yesterday I was thankful for a very relaxing day at home. I finished all the articles on Selfoss, my RSS feed site, and watched two episodes of last season's Parenthood!

Resolutions update #7

  1. Keep exercising. I ran 14 times for a total of 72.99 miles in August! (Those are both monthly highs, I believe.) I also did strength training four times and yoga three times. Woohoo!
This is what 20 miles looks like!
  2. Eat more veggies. No progress here from last month as far as tracking goes...really need to figure something out! I do feel like I'm going a pretty good job of eating veggies though!
  3. Enjoy the moment. Still trying!
Loved watching the Blue Angels fly by for the Chicago Air and Water Show!
  4. Make a baby. Still working on it!
  5. Read for pleasure. I'm still loving Kushiel's Scion. Reading about one chapter per night. I'm also trying to read Sports Illustrated during my lunch break but I'm about four issues behind again.
  6. Give thanks every day. I've been pretty good about remembering to post these this month. Yay!
  7. Explore (more of) Chicago. I had brunch at a new-to-me restaurant with the girls before Jess headed off to New Zealand. Natallie and I also ran our furthest run yet (20 miles) so explored a bit more of the northern lakeside Chicago neighborhoods.
